At the 2024 Grammy Awards, when receiving the award for Best Pop Album, Taylor suddenly announced that she would release a new album called The Tortured Poets Department. Immediately after leaving the stage, the female singer’s social network accounts shared more information about this 11th album.
During her speech, Swift announced her new album was titled extremely artistically The Tortured Poets Department. In the first published album cover image, the audience can see the female singer wearing a tank top and shorts on the bed. The new album will have a total of 16 official songs, along with an additional song called The Menuscript.
Taylor revealed that the two artists featured in her album this time are Post Malone and Florence, The Machine. There is still no information about the music producer for the new album, but it is likely that Taylor will collaborate with her close friend Jack Antonoff.
In addition to the standard album format, The Tortured Poets Department also has a more advanced CD version that includes many bonus gifts such as a 20-page collection of lyrics and never-before-published photos. The special edition album will also feature a photo gallery of Taylor, a bookmark and a magnet. Release date: Swift revealed that the new album will be released on April 19, 2024. Thus, the album release will take place right in the middle of the famous Eras Tour and this may affect the list of songs the female singer performs on this tour.
In the tagline “All’s fair in love and poetry”, she is referencing the famous tagline “All’s fair in love and war”. It means that applying any tactics or defying any rules & laws in Love and War is justified.
So in her tagline instead of using War, she is using the word “poetry” to convey the message that Poetry is very similar to War as both are detrimental to life. If poetry is written especially to highlight someone’s evilness then it can turn into a weapon against the oppressor. As human beings, we are free to love & write so everything is fair in poetry.
