In March, Breaking Benjamin and Daughtry are mounting a tour across the United States. The hard rock mainstays will hit the road starting March 21 at the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and the trek will run through April 24, wrapping up at the Black Oak Mountain Amphitheater in Lampe, Missouri. Very special guests for the run will be Catch Your Breath.
Breaking Benjamin came together at the dawn of the 21st century. Frontman Benjamin Burnley and drummer Jeremy Hummel were in a band together, and they were soon joined by guitarist Aaron Fink and bassist Mark James, formerly was part of the Lifer group. The band played around the Pennsylvania area, attracting the attention of local radio stations. A self-made EP started making the rounds in 2001, and soon Breaking Benjamin was signed to Hollywood Records.
Breaking Benjamin had an even bigger hit with their second album, 2004’s We Are Not Alone. Despite being a more ambitious and musical record than Satate, “we weren’t a radio audience targeted with high-caliber metal songs like “So Cold”‘, where Burnley spoke Maynard James Keenan’s incredible vocal delivery.
We Didn’t Alone became Breaking Benjamin’s first platinum album, and even if this quartet didn’t push the envelope, they at least proved themselves to be sonic craftsmen.
And Daughtry’s career is well summarised by It’s Not Over… The Hits So Far, with their early style showing diminishing returns (by the album’s own implicit admission, given there is only one track from Break the Spell), but a revitalising Baptized bringing them back from the edge. The new songs are very much of that newer style, which is a wise move for the band, and bodes well for future hits to come.
